Elf Lord and His Pal Griffon

This guy was fun to paint. It must not be too popular in GW's fantasy game because ebay is littered with these things. Best six bucks I've spent in a while.

Rat Ogre #2

This finishes the pair of rat ogres I have for my Skaven army though I think I'm going to add another pair at some time in the future. Next for them is to find a few suitable hero models.

Fireforge Games Foot Sergeants Part 2

Here is the first of the crossbow-armed units. The box provides a good assortment of weapons and bits and I built four units, each of 12 models: two units with hand weapons and two with crossbows.

Also cleared from my "finish this damn unit, already" pile are these Arthurians from Artizan Designs. I have ten more to do and will probably use them all as a single unit for that sweet spear-block look.

The movement tray is from Sarissa Precision. The trays are great and can be ordered with the bases to slot in. Easy-peasy. lemon-squeezy.

Westwind Elves

I've had these sitting half-painted on my desk for ages. You can't have fantasy battles without some of that famed elvish archery showing up for the party so I finally got them done. Another chip is knocked off of my lead mountain.

Fireforge Games Foot Sergeants

These are the first of what will end up being my human army for our fantasy wargames. I've split the contents of the box to make 24 boys armed with hand weapons and the the other 24 with crossbows. I'm not a fan of building plastic minis but these were pretty simple to put together and even easier to paint. Good times.

Hail Caesar Fantasy Part 2

Having driven off the Evil ratmen and greenskins at their initial meeting, the forces of Good pursue them down the valley. The Bad Guys have burned and pillaged their way south and have taken a time out to sack a peaceful little village. Mustering reinforcements from the valley along the way, the Good Guys form up for battle. It will be Men who bear the brunt of the fighting this day.

Clash! Here fell Gwynfor where the fighting was thickest, sword in hand and wounds to the front.

Ratmen assume open order and attempt a flanking move through the wood but the dwarves are there to stop them.

The greenskin right has crumbled and soon after their centre followed suit, leaving the way open for a swift and welcome liberation of the villagers.

Heavy Gear

My buddy lent me the rulebook for this game and that was all it took. Nice figs, easy to paint and hella pricey. Good unit deals on the DP9 site, though. Expect some 5-on-5 action in the near future.

Rohan Had Come At Last.

The Rohirrim are ready to ride! After a long spell of burn-out, I've finally finished these boys. Great figs by Musketeer Miniatures. Go get some.

Next up on the plate are some 28mm winged hussars that I'll use for another fantasy human cavalry unit and some type of human infantry which I haven't decided upon just yet. Stay tuned and I hope all are having a happy Festivus season.

Hail Caesar Fantasy Game

Last night we threw just about everything we had onto the table just for the hell of it and it turned out to be a fun time. It was an allied greenskin and skaven force facing off against hardy dwarves with some manlings along for the show. The fighting was fierce with both sides committing their generals at every opportunity a result of which two fell in glorious battle.

We played the rules as written for the most part. All but two units were classed as standard size and were between 100mm and 120mm wide. For the unit values we took the base stats from the book and knocked 'em around a little and called it done. Here are the rosters we came up with if you're interested: Good Guys and Bad Guys. For magic we used the rules and spells from Battle of Five Armies. The Bad Guys fielded a goblin shaman and the Good Guys a dwarf rune priestess.

I took a lot of pics of the game but only a few were of any worth unfortunately. Note to self: get a frakkin' tripod. Enough jibber-jabber. On with the pics!

Most of the fighting took place in the centre as the Bad Guys had trouble activating their wings for a couple of turns.

A deployment error on my part was saved due to the wolf riders unable to activate the entire game.

A view of the right where the skaven refused to advance until they were damn well good and ready. When they finally did, the dwarves waiting for them sent them packing.
